Preparing for What Happens After Identity Theft Family Life Expo

In today?s world of I-Pads, hi-tech phones, computers, and you personal data and information being stored, sold and used by government agencies, medical facilities, businesses, and our own lack of knowledge has the average person more at risk than ever! The more disturbing fact is your children are even more at risk. The true professional knows they have from prebirth thru age of 18 before a theft may even be discovered. Imagine discovering your 15yr old has not only bad credit but a criminal record. How do we deal? Where do we turn?

According to the Federal Trade Commission studies just released monitoring services that you hear advertised catch only about 16.5% of thefts. Only about 7% of thieves are caught and even less prosecuted. One of the misconceptions about id theft is that when you report it you are no longer responsible and that the financial consequences become the banks or the credit company or somebody problem but certainly not yours.

The truth is after 90 days in this new financial world you can start becoming partially responsible and if not addressed you could become totally responsible. What this means is that while not real affective, a monitoring service is still an advantage or better yet a service that not only monitors but has the capacity to restore your identity back to where it should be.

One of the big problems with identity theft is our perception. Most people have been fed such a strict diet of credit fraud as the main identity theft issue that they are not aware that credit and financial make-up only 25% of id theft.

Identity theft also includes, Medical { the fastest growing segment}, Criminal {some of the scariest} Social security {one of the easiest}, Drivers License and financial.

You should be aware that monitoring catches very little of this. Monitoring will catch credit of course, changes of address, and some banking but the rest can be out there for years before you discover it.

That is when you need a service that not only monitors but also will step in and restore your identity including all 6 areas of your identity but also has lawyers at your disposal to help you with the legal ramifications of this crime.

Lets be honest here. If you have an identity theft issue you DO have a legal issue that you will probably have to address. There can be lawsuits, collection processes, criminal charges are a possibility. Imagine being the parent who took their child to the bank to open a savings account for the first time, but when the information was entered the bank went into lockdown and the police showed up to arrest the teen on warrants that were issued a year or so before. Luckily in this case, the teen?s parents were present ? but can you imagine if that child had been out with friends or driving somewhere and had gotten stopped?

This is an ever expanding problem that is becoming a threat to our safety and our peace of mind. If it happens within your family, the FTC says it will take between 150 and 600 hrs for you to fix the problem. I don?t know about you but I can?t be away from work for that kind of time. It?s important to be aware of these risks, and have a protection plan in place.
